Taking some photos so you can see hoe close we are.

The new website is almost done and will be launching soon. I’m thinking sunday will be the day…stay tuned!

Cleaning day.

Finaly a clean place. No more dust, no more health issues. It’s been a long time. I can really get a feel for the place now. So many descisions, you never really no if you got it right until the end. I think I got it right. Check it out.

Bar top

A quick peak at the bar top. Three and a half inchs by twenty eigth inchs wide. This beautiful sixteen foot piece weighs in at over 450 lbs. Wow!

Floors

Ah the floors are almost finished. What a relief. Now the real work begins. Back bar, boothes, beer walkin. It’s going to move fast and I will try and keep the pictures rolling.

Dust bowl

We are getting ready to make a whole lot of dust people. The cutthrough for next door involves 7 courses of brick. Chris is doing an awesome job so far, but there is no escaping the dust. Have a great holiday weekend. ” stay thirsty my friends”.

The bar.

Slowly the wheels are turning. Progress is being made on the bar with a few adjustments. Because the floors were poured on a slant. There is 4 inch difference front to back. If there is one thing Ive learned over the years, your bar height has to be perfect. 44 inchs exactly. My solution, which came to me at 4 in the morning, was to step the bar down three times back to front. I think its going to be an interesting effect.

The kitchen is also reaching completion. Resetting equipment next week and moving on.

Dinky doo and Henri’ are feverishly skinning the bar walls. If I could get them away from there “buttercup club” activities, we would really have something. Just kidding boys. Great job as usual.

Dust bowl

Can’t take the dustbowl much longer. Cutting concrete, tile, brick. My lungs are heavy with dust. Nothing a little wine and rest can’t cure.

The bar walls are in and the kitchen will be ready by Monday. Lots of equipment moving next week. Michael Wayne and I will work through the weekend to insure the progress. Pics to follow.

You will soon be able to become a “citizen” of The Republuc. Lots of fun stuff associated with that. Thankyou Amy Foxworthy for the idea.

Your FIRED’

That’s right people. The first firing at the republic. It seems installing reclaimed flooring is more of an Art form than actual construction. We had the installer stop twice to re-evalute his work. It was godawful. Finnaly we had to cut our loses. Shannon Eastwood aka ” the hammer” did the deal. I heart her! I’ve included some pics as evidence for you review. If I ever laid a piece of material and nailed it of, on one of my fathers jobs, and it looked like this. You would have never known me as an adult;)

Stage

Things are moving along at rapid pace. Donovan (aka DinkyDoo) built the stage. Forgot what a real carpenter feels like. Painful! But it’s done. Today we will skin the east wall down to the brick. I think it’s going to be amazing. Really like the red paint, sets off the brick nicely. ABC app goes in on Monday, cross your fingers everyone is in a good mood over there. The flooring has also started, hard to tell from the picture but it’s very cool stuff. It’s reclaimed Canadian maple from a Goodyear factory down south. Thank you Justin French.
